Holding the Pose (5 Photos)
ByI believe as much in dedication as the next person and firmly believe you are defined in life not by what you do best, but by what you do most. However, even I was impressed by the fortitude of this mother-daughter duo, posing here on the step of the Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland), also known as the the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, the monument dedicated to the first king of a unified Italy. It is one of the most impressive structures in Rome–too large for some tastes–and rises above and includes the Tomb of the Unknown.
I took a few shots. They held the pose. I shot other stuff. They held the pose. Then I switched cameras, and they still held the pose.

Later, the daughter took the camera and mom and the cameraman posed. Mom’s got one move–I’m glad it’s a good one. Congratulations on your fortitude, unknown Russian selfie soldiers.
you crack me up – and the mom does have that pose down. lol
wonder if the camera man was the bf or son/brother.
what fun little adventure with you – and the warm tone of the photos had a unique feel….

I couldn’t understand why it took the kid so long to get the shot. I mean, it was what, 15 minutes of standing there fixed in that pose…?

Yes. I couldn’t understand what they were doing. Maybe he thought he could get one without people, while standing on the main staircase.
