“Nationalist,” Littlehampton, West Sussex, UK, July 2014. In the U.S., displays of flags can either represent optimistic patriotism, or xenophobic nationalism, with equal likelihood, depending on what part of the country you’re in. In the U.K., it is more often the latter than the former. Here, the statement seems to be, quietly, “Britain for the British.” Should have thought of that before colonialism, mate.
Note the looks? Those aren’t because I have a camera, as I was getting the same looks before I even took it out. Fortunately, I’m a bit of a badass, so I didn’t give a shit. In fact, I told the guy in the bottom photo to look some damned place else. It was that kind of vibe.
Littlehampton, West Sussex, UK, sorted. It’s a shithole. Later.
